Hello everyone. It’s me!
So, I’ve decided to continue writing my NaNoWriMo novel. And I’m going to post the chapters here as I finish them. Getting some feedback would really motivate me to continue it and FINISH it. At which point I will publish it, so if you like the story you’ll be able to buy the book and keep it forever! Woo hoo and whoop dee doo.
I’m working on the first chapter now. Expect it soon!
In the meantime, I’ll tell you about the story. It really needs a title. Any ideas? Right now I’m calling it “Dexter Investigations” just to call it something. But that title is awful so it’s definitely not staying. As for a plot summary, I’m gonna figure that out as I go, too. haha.
It’s about Cal Dexter and his private investigation team. Cal is an ex-police officer in his late 20′s who has been running Dexter Investigations for some time. He employs Frank, the veteran PI, Clark, the “General Manager” of the office, and Sydney, the newly-licensed PI. I think this might turn into a series of books about these characters. I imagine it’ll be a like a crime-drama show you’d see on TV. But we will see what happens. Here’s an except for the moment…
Images flashed before him. They were sharp and clear and full of color. The green of her shirt and the copper-colored hair and the way the sun made her skin shimmer. The images were connected to his lungs, causing a hitch in his breath, a pressure on his chest. He had developed the ability to erase these images, to silence his thoughts. A long breath drawn in slowly as his eyes fluttered; the light was red behind his closed eyes. He could smell stale Chinese food, feel his hair being nudged around by the wind of the ceiling fan. He steepled his fingers and placed them on his mouth. In this state, he was no longer Cal Dexter, a complete person with memories and feelings and dreams. He wasn’t a person at all. He was a gently-breathing machine, in and out—nothing more.

You finishing-things person, you.
You’re already my favorite poet, and one of my favorite songwriters (sorry; Dylan and Van and Nez have a 40-year edge) so you may as well become my favorite fiction writer as well.
Let me know how I can help, ‘k?
